For now, all letters sent through Lettre are digital. But we're working toward making physical mail possible in the future.

Maybe sooner than expected. Shh.

We strongly recommend having basic reading and writing skills for the best Lettre experience. As for the letters themselves, they can be as creative, silly, heartfelt, or formal as you'd like.

There are no set rules here. Have fun and express yourself however you want and however you can. This isn't some boring old text box. You have a canvas with practically limitless potential!

Once you've finished writing your letter, you'll see an envelope / paper-plane button in the top-right corner. Tap it to continue to the envelope screen.

From there, you can:

1. Choose your recipient
2. Customize your envelope
3. Add the required postage
4. Hit Send

And don't worry. Our competent postal-bird, Pippin, will take it from there and make sure your letter reaches its intended recipient, wherever they may be.

Absolutely!

As long as you have their contact information or email address, you can send them a letter. They'll receive a copy by email along with instructions for downloading Lettre and getting started.

The letter can also be saved directly from the email as a PDF or image, including the envelope.

Fear not! Your letter can still reach them.

They won't have access to the full Lettre experience or be able to collect stamps through the app, but they can receive your letter through email or iMessage.

As of now, you can send letters to:

1. People on Lettre whom you've already added to your Address Book
2. The PenPal Stack, where people can discover your letter and hopefully start a conversation with you
3. Anyone whose email address you know

Simply download Lettre and sign up using the same email address where they received the invitation.

And voila! They're ready to enter the world of letters.

We believe in thoughtful communication, so being able to take back a letter is intentionally limited. But we also believe in second chances.

For private Mailbox letters, the ability to unsend a letter is one of the exclusive superpowers available to Pippin Supporters Club members. It also helps us keep spam and unwanted messages at bay while giving our supporters an extra bit of value for helping keep Lettre running.

For PenPal letters, you don't need to be a Supporters Club member to manage them. Visit your PenPal profile to see the letters you've posted. From there, you can pause, resume, or delete them whenever you'd like.

It's the BEST way to support our team and the idea behind Lettre.

Thanks to the members of the Pippin Supporters Club, Lettre is entirely ad-free. We also never sell your data, even if you use Lettre for free.

That's what Express Mail is for.

Regular letters have a built-in delivery wait by design. We think the anticipation is part of the fun, but sometimes you need a letter to get there right now.

Express Mail is an exclusive superpower available to Pippin Supporters Club members.

On the envelope screen, tap the little lightning bolt to turn on Express Mail. Your envelope will switch to our exclusive Express Mail envelopes.

From there, choose when you'd like your letter to arrive or send it instantly.

Then sit back and let Pippin do his thing.

Think of it this way:

Stationery is yours. Stamps travel.

Papers and envelopes are permanently tied to your account. Once you claim or purchase them, they're yours to use indefinitely.

Stamps, on the other hand, move between people. When you send a letter, your stamps become part of the recipient's collection. When someone sends you a letter, their stamps become part of yours.

That's what makes collecting stamps on Lettre a little different from collecting them anywhere else.

Stamps work a little differently from stationery.

Unlike papers and envelopes, which are permanently tied to your account, stamps are exchangeable and tradable.

When you send a letter, the stamps you use are transferred to the recipient's stamp collection. When you receive a letter, the stamps attached to it are added to your own collection.

Once a stamp is in your collection, it's yours to use again on future letters. This means every letter you send or receive can also become a little stamp trade with someone somewhere in the world. You can admire all the stamps in your collection from the Stamp Book tab.

We're also working on a dedicated trading experience for stamp enthusiasts. But even then, sending and receiving letters will always be one of the most fun ways to discover, collect, and trade stamps around the world.

Yes, indirectly through letters!

Every time you send or receive a letter, stamps move between the sender's and the recipient's stamp books. Every correspondence is also a stamp trade.

We're also building a dedicated stamp-trading experience for people who want to take collecting and trading to the next level. Until then, the best way to trade stamps is the old-fashioned way:

Send someone a letter.

Not at all!

Your papers and envelopes are Permanently Yours. You can use them indefinitely, including limited-time stationery you've claimed and stationery packs you've purchased. Once you have a piece of stationery, it's yours to keep for as long as you use Lettre.

We're also constantly working on adding more ways to customize your writing experience and make every letter feel uniquely yours.

PenPal, noun: a person with whom one becomes friendly by exchanging letters, especially someone in another country whom one has never met.

Basically: someone you haven't met yet, but probably should.

The PenPals tab is where you can discover letters from people around the world.

Browse the PenPal Stack, and if you find a letter you like, you can:

• Heart it
• Save it for later
• Share it with friends
• Start a conversation with the sender

That last one is our favorite.

You can also customize your own PenPal profile from this tab with avatars, badges, interests, and other fun little bits of personality. Just tap the profile icon in the corner to get started.

When you're on the envelope screen, select PenPals as your recipient.

You'll then choose a region, and your letter will be added to the PenPal Stack for people in that region to discover.

Someone browsing the Stack may find your letter, fall in love with it, and decide to start a conversation with you. That's the idea, anyway.

Letters sent to a PenPal region are publicly discoverable. Anyone browsing the PenPal Stack may come across your letter.

Your regular Mailbox letters, on the other hand, are private.

Yes.

When someone starts a conversation with you from a PenPal letter, the resulting correspondence moves into your Mailbox, where it becomes private.

So the PenPal Stack is where you meet people. The Mailbox is where you get to know them.

PenPal letters that you send don't appear in your regular Mailbox unless someone has started a conversation with you.

Instead, they appear inside your own PenPal profile. Visit your PenPal profile to see the letters you've posted. From there, you can read, pause, resume, or delete them. You can also see the same when visiting someone else's PenPal profile!

There are currently a couple of ways to add someone to your Address Book:

1. Use a Friend Code. From the Address Book tab, you'll find your unique Friend Code. Share it with someone you'd like to add, or enter their Friend Code to add them to your Address Book.
2. Add someone from PenPals. From the PenPals tab or a conversation, visit someone's PenPal profile and tap Add Friend, if they've enabled the option.
