Designing Kosmo & Morph for Pippin’s Park Buddies

Kosmo & Morph as illustrated by thismustbethat

Every good park has its legends: the quiet figures you only catch glimpses of and the cosmic dreamers who make you wonder if the universe is listening back. For our Pippin’s Park Buddies collection, we are bringing all of these characters to life: this blog is about Morph, the shadowy stray and Kosmo, the philosophical space dog.

Primarily, these characters make their appearances as FREE stamps from the “Pippins Park Buddies” collection, exclusively available for members of the Pippin Supporters; celebrating the whimsical cast of companions that make up Pippin’s world. They also appear as avatars you can select for your PenPal profiles (among other things now and in the future). Today, we’ll share how these two very different souls came to be.

Kosmo: The Cosmic Shiba

Kosmo by _airow : minted as a stamp

On one side of the park, you’ll find Kosmo, a Shiba Inu astronaut with a smile that survived the void of space. Born near Baikonur, Kazakhstan, Kosmo once traveled among the stars until an injury brought him back down to Earth. Still, he carries the quiet dignity of someone who has looked into the infinite. Paying homage to space hero Laika, Kosmo remembers their days together fondly.

We designed Kosmo as both stoic and whimsical, a cosmic explorer with his paws now firmly on the ground but his mind still wandering among galaxies. His space helmet and serene posture remind us of the fragility of exploration and the humor of being a dog who ghosts his vet but chats casually with comets.

  • Catchphrase: “We are all stardust. Except you. You’re kind of clingy.”

  • Fun Fact: Kosmo communicates with comets, though he’s less responsive when it comes to vet appointments.

As a stamp, Kosmo brings cosmic wonder to the everyday: a reminder that even park benches are part of the same stardust tapestry.

Morph: The Stray Wrapped in Mystery

On the other side of the park, you will find Morph. Born in the back alleys of London, Morph is no ordinary cat. Some say he slipped away from an occult gathering under the cover of shadows, carrying with him an aura of mystery that never quite left.

We designed Morph to feel dreamy, elegant, and cryptic, a character who never fully reveals himself. His blue scarf is a small nod to the humanity he brushes against but never truly joins. Subtly inspired by the lord of dreams, his glowing green eyes and cloak of mystery give him an otherworldly presence: a cat who’s always watching, even when you can’t see him.

  • Catchphrase: “I was never really here.”

  • Fun Fact: Morph claims he can turn invisible… but only when no one’s looking.

In stamp form, Morph captures the essence of a fleeting shadow, something you’ll want to collect before he disappears again.

A Park Full of Stories

Together, Morph and Kosmo embody two sides of Pippin’s world: the grounded and the cosmic, the fleeting and the eternal. They join Pippin and the rest of the Park Buddies in giving our community of letter-writers a touch of story, whimsy and collectibility (they also sometimes appear on our socials as comic strips)

These exclusive stamps are available only to members of the Pippin Supporters Club for free, not available for sale. It’s our way of saying thank you for keeping Lettre free and independent, while adding a bit of mystery and stardust to your letters.

Will you meet Morph in the shadows or hear Kosmo’s howl to the stars? Either way, their stories are now part of yours.
