Hello PenPal Stacks, Goodbye Doomscrolling
TLDR: hello Stacks, goodbye doomscrolling!
You can't order a sandwich or start a religion without navigating your way around the ocean of words. You cannot contemplate the universe, enter an atom, or make a friend. Try performing the single most useless act possible in this timeline--say, adding someone to your LinkedIn network. Do it without words. You can't!
Ok so that last thing may not be so bad.
Words are infinite. But infinity can be a bit extra. Infinity is doomscrolling. Infinity is the library of Babel.
Lettre exists as a small boat in the word ocean. A small craft, sailing among text messages, snatches of song, half-remembered stories, and hulking hippopotomonstrosesquipedalian white whales. The lettres we write, launched from these tiny craft, are meant for fellow sailors. Lettres aren't built for stormy weather or deep sea navigation. They are messages in bottles from boat to boat, from sea to shore.
And so, to preserve the personal finite nature of lettres, to remember that the connection that we enable is the connection between two individuals, we've decided to keep the infinite feed at bay. Every day, Pippin will bring you a curated Stack of lettres to enjoy and begin conversations with. Think of it as a little bit of navigation.
If you use up your daily Stack (I'm all right Jack!), you may always join the Pippin Supporters Club, which brings you more PenPal lettres and makes your life awesome in other ways too numerous to explain in a blog post.
Here is the same information, but in limerick format:
Once there was an app called Lettre
Who tried to make connections better
So the feed got nixed
And a Stack got fixed
So there's nothing to stop you--go and get 'er!
